I'm a salon or barber · Mentions elsewhere

Being mentioned on sites that aren't yours, for salons

A local news write-up or a supplier's "find an installer" page carries more weight than anything you write about yourself.

In the works

We haven't finished writing the rubric for this one, so it won't appear in your comparison yet. It's here so you know what's coming — and the advice below still holds if you want to get ahead of it.

#16 · SALONS

Why it matters here

Independent mentions are how search engines and AI tools confirm you're real and established. A handful of the right ones outweighs a lot of self-promotion.

A new client finds you on a phone, usually in the evening, usually deciding between you and two others nearby. If they can see the work and book without calling, you've got them.

Whether trade bodies and suppliers list you
Where the competitor gets mentioned and you don't

What decides it for salons

Recent photos of actual cuts and colour
Booking that works at 11pm without a phone call
A steady drip of new reviews, not a burst two years ago

This one is compared on the same rubric for every trade. We haven't written salons-specific benchmarks for it yet.
